ST. KITTS - PART TWO

After we finished up at Caribe Batik we headed out for a drive to Brimstone Hill Fortress State Park. It was fascinating to see all the structures and think about how in the world they got all the building equipment up to that high point so long ago. At least the soldiers manning the fort had a gorgeous view!

Our last stop was at Cockleshell Beach where we would have lunch and snorkel if there was time.
The drive across the mountains to the beach was unbelievable. At one point we came to a place where Sackville stopped to show us where one side was the Atlantic and one side was the Caribbean.

Finally we arrived at the beach area. It wasn't very big but there was a great outdoor Reggae Bar where we had a yummy lunch. David had Conch Chowder and I had a yummy Mai Mai sandwich.

Lots of Countries Represented

Cockleshell's Famous Wilbur the Pig

Even the bathrooms were colorful

While walking along the beach we spied a starfish

Goats wandered all over St. Kitts

David was taken with this baby

On the way back to the ship some of us were bugging Sackville that we hadn't seen any green monkeys that we knew lived on St. Kitts. Suddenly as we drove along we came across several just casually strolling along the road!

After getting back everyone went their own way to shop. We found cute little bathing suit skirts and tops for Allison, Lindsay, and Carolin. While walking around the shopping area some guys with monkeys offered to let us take a picture with them. This was quite the scam as they literally piled them up on David and then wanted $20 for the pictures I was taking! We were pretty mad and I think David gave them $5. but be careful of these guys and keep walking!

Not sure this was worth $5.

Back on board we decided that since it was Valentine's Day we would get a table for two in the dining room. Even on this special day we had no problem getting a table for two. I don't think we ever waited more than a few minutes any time we went to dinner and never once needed one of the buzzers they hand you if you do have to wait. If one dining room couldn't seat us right away we would just check with the other anytime dining room and that worked great for us.
For dessert David broke down and got the very rich dessert the Princess Love Boat.

Chocolate thru and thru!

We were so glad we had no tour booked for the next day in St. Thomas as we really needed a day of relaxing at this point!
